International Women's Day 2026
by Lucy Maughan
Happy International Women’s Day!🙌🎉 Today we celebrate the incredible women who work within our team and all women across the world who inspire us everyday. This year’s IWD ‘Give to Gain’ campaign aims to encourage generosity, support and collaboration amongst and towards women of all backgrounds. For that reason, we asked a few of our team members to shed a light on those who inspire them both in the animation industry and beyond. Here’s who they will be honouring today…
Evie - 2D Generalist
“Being lucky enough to report to and work with, I feel inspired not only by the amazing leadership that has shaped the positive memories of my roles within 2D animation. While all of these women are role models to me, I hold incredible gratitude to Niki Kohoe, who not only saw my potential and hired me for my first animation role, but set a standard of professionalism and respect far beyond expectations.
Growing up as an in-the-closet trans woman, the male dominance in roles within animation created a mental block that stopped me from fully accepting both my creative potential and my personal identity. It wouldn’t be until joining a team of women and gender non-conforming folks, lead by Niki, that I would begin to dissolve these internal barriers, allowing me to grow and thrive both creatively and personally - I am forever grateful for her influence.”
Kat - Studio Manager
“For International Women’s Day, I was thinking about a woman who inspires me, but the truth is, it isn’t just one woman — it’s the village of women that surrounds me. The friends who have become my family and the brilliant women I work with every day.
Through a multitude of life events, we have each other’s backs. Jobs (that turned into careers), boyfriends (some of which turned into husbands), pregnancies, babies, miscarriages, abusive relationships, sleepless nights, teenagers, divorces, redundancies, court proceedings, ageing parents (and the loss of parents), the f-ing menopause, serious illness… the train of life just keeps rumbling down the tracks.
The village of women are always there. A shoulder to cry on. A hand to hold outside a courtroom. Laughter that makes you cry — or wet yourself! A simple “just checking you’re okay” text that arrives at exactly the right moment.
Strong, resilient, funny, fiercely loyal and endlessly supportive. They remind me that none of us have to do life alone.”
Here’s to the village❤️
Sasha - Storyboard Artist
“I grew up listening to the powerful music of Sinéad O'Connor, and she has always inspired me. She was a determined woman with strong views and the courage to use her public voice to speak out against injustice.
Songs like ‘Black Boys on Mopeds’ and ‘The Last Day of Our Acquaintance’ were some of my favourites. What has always stood out to me about her music is how it feels like she truly means every word she sings.
I’d really recommend her memoir Rememberings — especially the audiobook narrated by her, which makes hearing her full story even more powerful.”
